TMJ
The manner in which your teeth meet when your upper and lower jaws contract is known as your "bite." If your teeth do not fit together properly, you may have malocclusion, also known as a "bad bite," which can lead to issues with your teeth, gums, temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ), and facial musculature.
This misalignment, commonly referred to as TMJ disorder, can also cause nighttime jaw clenching and teeth grinding in some individuals. This may result in facial pain, headaches, discomfort and buzzing while biting or chewing, migraines, neck and shoulder pain, and even back pain.
If you recognise any of these symptoms or experience them on a regular basis, you will need to see a TMJ dentist for treatment or, if necessary, referral to a specialist. We offer comprehensive TMJ treatment in London. The following can be included in treatment:
1. Teeth impressions are used to construct a custom-made plastic appliance that fits over the teeth and is worn at night.
2.When the device is worn, the teeth are in a position that relaxes the facial musculature, preventing teeth grinding and relieving pressure on the TMJ.
3 Additionally, the device protects the teeth, preventing their wear from clenching.
